It’s amazing how quickly our summer climax has crept up on us, right?
The August 22 Full Moon in Aquarius will emit energy for two weeks, tying together all the threads of our “Bold & Gold” summer that began Memorial Day weekend.
Well, almost all the threads.
There are going to be unexpected surprises in our lives over these next two weeks: sudden separations, epiphanies, breakdowns and a general air of chaos.
True, that can seem a bit harsh at times.
But, I think if we dare to look closer, we could see that these things were coming.
Or perhaps we ignored our blind spots and left ourselves wide open for exploitation/disappointment.
This is what Nemo and Casey experienced in the latest episode of Zeitville: that despite our meticulous and well-intentioned plans, a bit of chaos can still creep in from the cracks.
And that makes us suspicious: Am I to blame? My partner? The world at large?
I think once “Freaky Fall” kicks off with the September 8 Virgo New Moon, we’ll look back on these two weeks with gratitude.
These two weeks are an excellent last chance to assert independence, freedom and our individual voice. If anything leaves our field, we should release it with gratitude. It will show us where we stand, alone in the spotlight.
Plus, it could easily return this fall! What’s coming soon is a mysterious autumnal soup of covert negotiations, primal obsessions and hidden/misplaced/returned riches.
This crazy harvest season will be dealing with many varieties of accumulation and loss.
Let’s dive in and see how late August sets us up.
Surge Protector
Right now, the archetype of the Rebel is very strong in our collective consciousness.
It will be more or less a background energy over the 2020s, but it’s really the star performer at the moment.
How many of us have recently seen close partners (or ourselves) suddenly snap and act out of character? Seen strangers just lose their shit?
In order for us to remove co-dependence on institutions that don’t have our best interests in mind, the universe is shocking us with a divine electricity.
Some of the madness you encounter (or observe in your own head) may have a touch of genius to it.
All categories that push our thinking into preordained routes are being short-circuited.
We are being given the chance to make a quantum leap towards greater personal sovereignty. Enough with centralized mantras, like: "The March of Progress, citizens!”
But herein lies the problem: How many people are actually ready for this? And if it’s not many, will society descend into chaos?
Many of you reading this know I’ve outlined my fullest answer to this question in the Patchwork Manifesto.
Let’s restrict our focus to this small window in time, however. I believe we are encouraged to see a degree of unity despite our atomized scattering—despite our growing awareness that equality is a myth.
At bottom, many of us share a feeling of being “fed up.”
Sure, the responses to this are different. Some may say that nothing will change in the near term; others feel like their life is an epic movie every day.
Or you see dogmatists pointing to signs everywhere “proving” their inevitable future supremacy while their natural enemies mimic the same overconfident behavior.
Confirmation bias aside, this creates an atmosphere of tension between polar opposites. And polar tension is what occupies the action in this week’s episode of Zeitville.
Tension between our inner sanctuary and the noise of social networking. Or between resting and hustling. Between love and work; secrecy and honesty; risk and certainty; Today and Tomorrow.
Ultimately, these tensions come down to an Uber-Tension: between faith and control.
“Control” is going to be scarce the rest of the year. Those who try to push it too hard will fall on their own sword. We’ll all be challenged to find faith as we wobble through a Jell-O like conclusion to 2021.
This challenge is already teed up: people are scrambling, like rabid Black Friday shoppers, in search of belonging.
They will do anything to feel like a valuable part of some community—to know they matter.
But they already do matter. Their story is written in the stars, not in memorizing a few memes that serve as passwords to online cliques.
Deep inner knowing is our challenge in the near to medium term. So we get one last party from August 22-September 8, to get any restlessness out of our system.
Already, if you PEER CLOSE, you can see little safety nets catching you…little surge protectors keeping you from blowing a fuse as God sends 10,000 volts of pent-up inspiration through your consciousness.
Even when surprises occur—leaving you with suspicions about the “fairness” of the universe—trust that you are being compensated with MORE TIME.
Is it hard to be authentically humble? Oh yeah. We can “surrender” to a shitty situation in an egotistical way. “I’ll get my revenge. I’ll show you, I’ll be the hero of this big narrative!”
But let’s be honest: the world is a crackling mess tempting us with false narratives.
Such is the message of my account, newsletter and even the whole of Zeitville: You are not what you consume. No external narrative from CNN or your girlfriend can orient you now. People have the solution inside them. People have their own story to live.
If we’re anxiously sorting through “content” to give us a 5-second answer, we can become distracted from the divine property we eternally own: the story within.
This is the Patchwork Age of everyone acting out their unique stories all at once, not claiming the throne to One Big Central Story.
We need time this fall to labor and meditate on the RICHNESS and MYSTERY of our personal story—lots of time.
It’s beautiful to have this last burst of courage before we walk into the harvest months of waning light.

Curtain Call
Great edition as always Paul.
It sounds like "Freaky Fall" is going to force us to figure out how to stick to our guns and assert our boundaries of identity in a progressively ambiguous and chaotic environment/zeitgeist. Is there anything we can focus on in order to prepare for things? Being ready to let go of stuff we value right now seems like a good start.
